To avoid scams, all basic features of Bulk SMS are required to get approved first by DLT i.e organization, sender ID, and even content template. If you are our existing customers and have not been approved by DLT yet, your SMS will stand failed by 2021. A content template is actually the message/ text body that you as a company or Entity require to send your consumers or clients in the form of bulk SMS. Enterprises and businesses are bound to register their message content on the DLT operator as a content template. There are four routes for Bulk SMS in DLT i.e Promotional, transactional, Service Explicit, and Service Implicit.

how to apply for dlt registration process details

    • A promotional route is generally used for sending messages for marketing a service or upcoming new products. According to the policy of TRAI, such SMS are delivered to only non DND numbers within a fixed time (night time excluded). Promotional SMS have a Sender ID of only six numeric digits. Variables included in the template are represented as {#var#}. For example, if the actual message is; Get a special offer on this Eid with 40% off on our summer collection. For more details call us at 7777. The approved template would be as; Get a special offer on this Eid with {#var#} off on our summer collection. For more details Call at {#var#}.

    • Recent TRAI regulation has reserved transactional routes for banks for OTP purposes only. Other companies or Entities are not allowed to practice this route for OTP delivery. Each kind of bank either Government, National, Schedules, MNC, or Private can use a transactional route for sending OTP. Except for OTP, all other transactional messages like bank account status, money credited or debited, cannot be conveyed through this route. Banks can send just OTP SMS through this route. In the template, variables are denoted as {#var#}. For example, if the actual message is; The OTP for the transaction of Rs. 2000 is 28427. Don’t share with others. The approved template is as; The OTP for the transaction of Rs. {#var#} is {#var#}. Don’t share with others.

    • The route is similar to the promotional route to some extent; it involves SMS containing offers and marketing, sent to only those clients who are registered and have provided their permission/consent. In other words type of promotional SMS sent to the registered clients with their consent is known as service explicit SMS. In this case, clients are explicit/ obvious to whom messages need to be sent. In its template variables are represented as {#var#}. For example, if the actual SMS is; Shop now, your gift voucher 7766 will expire soon. The approved template would be as; Shop now, your gift voucher {#var#} will expire soon.

    • The route is mostly used by organizations, different companies, brands, and banks to send informational messages corresponding to services and products. Through the service implicit route one can send notifications for order decline and confirmations, updates regarding purchases, login OTP, payment alerts, and many others like these. In the final template, variables are represented as {#var#}. For example, if the actual SMS is; your order vide number 124673 has been processed it would be delivered on Friday.
